I've been playing Gears 1 to refresh my memory of the story and it still looks great, maybe they have maxed out the xbox but who cares? I just want to chainsaw stuff in the face!

No. I've been a lifelong Nintendo supporter and owned all their consoles. But I just can't do it anymore. I am fine with "gimicky" controllers. I am fine with their lack of concern for the latest and greatest graphics. I don't mind when they come out with silly disc ideas. And to a certain extent, I can even handle that they lack proper third party support for anyone over the age of 7 (for the most part).

The reason I don't plan on buying their next console is because of their own internal lack of innovation or original games. I loved Mario Galaxy. I loved both Twilight Princess and even Zelda Waterworld or whatever it was called. MY problem is that they keep releasing the exact same idea over and over with minimal changes. And while they are typically good games, I am still just as happy going back to Link to the Past and playing that again, or Mario World, etc. So what incentive is there for me to buy yet another console for yet another Mario or Zelda that will be 99% the same as all the others they've released but with one small gameplay tweak/feature?

There isn't any. So unless Nintendo joins the modern world and decides to give Zelda a story that changes and evolves and continues from game to game, or makes some revolutionary change to Mario like we saw from 2d to 3d...I'll just play the games I've already bought over again. They're still excellent and have held up over the decades.

You've made me want to go dig out Link to the past :)

Both controls have a place in gaming and I don't think you can have a console that only uses one of these methods. Street Fighter with Motion Control?

What about an option for those of us who are still unsure? Anyway, I might but it wouldn't be right away just like this gen. I didn't even get a Wii until this Christmas.

I'm learning that I'm more into handheld gaming anyway, so I will eventually be getting a 3DS first.

With the escalating rumours of the "Wii 2" or "Project Cafe" being announced by Nintendo at this years E3 I just wanted to see how gamers who bought the Wii feel about buying another Nintendo console? I personally will not buy another Nintendo home console at launch if ever again.

My G/F bought me a Wii for my xmas on the year of release and I must say I loved the console, quite quickly it became apparent that Nintendo's ability to have 3rd party support equal to the likes of Microsoft / Sony was lacking. The lack of games available that appealed to me left me going else where (PS3) for my gaming fix.

It annoys me that the 3rd party support for the Wii has been so poor in comparison to the other consoles and it's an area where you think Nintendo would have learned from their previous efforts. I like what Nintendo do - which I think is from my love for them as a kid and it's always interesting to see how they develop but for me they don't enough to keep me buying their products.

What are your thoughts?

I will likely buy Microsofts next console as my friends own it and I want to play with my mates.

As good as portable gaming may get I don't think that our current method of gaming will change much and I don't think it will dwarf the "war". If anything it will extend the consumer base that gaming appeals to.

It's two different formats and I hope they will never replace each other. I don't want to play games on a portable device when I can play games on my big tv in comfort of my living room. Can you really see everyone that takes public transport playing these sort of games? As cool as it may be I don't think portable gaming will ever live up to the success of console / pc gaming.

Or may I hope it won't =P
