Really if I'm a level 58 and I go into a dungeon for level 30's I should still be a level 58. I should not have to buy traits even if they are usefull. My level, my gear, my skills and party should be more than enough. We were not stand there weighting to die and we did not charge in either. The place was just to hard and I am not the first and not the last to say this.

Dynamic level scaling is one of the core features of this game. Some people like challenges. The Ascalonian Catacombs actually reminded me of past times when games were hard and unforgiving - it made me sad to see how the popularization of videogames over the last 10-15 years has forced developers to make games that are easy for mass appeal...

One way to alleviate the situation is to change to ranged as you said.

Another option would be to invest your trait points into vitality and toughness. Don't run a so-called "glass cannon" build and expect high survivability.

[QUOTE="DABhand"] There is a few negatives, my review touches that, had to drop my score from 8.5 to 6.0 after their credit card saving fiasco lately and the poor support service (I know its early days but they have not got a good system and people are being missed completely in the ticket system).

Seems a bit harsh of a score penalty...

Anyways new expansion they are working on allegedly will have 2 new classes and new race, the classes are reported to be Bard and Templar (don't ask why Templar *shrug* unless it was gained from the White Mantle)DABhand

Based on what you said I would say this game lines up with nearly all of your requirements. I'll breiftly address all of your bullets:

-The first point you mentioned is the only concern I would have. This seems more of a subjective opinion, but I personally haven't gotten bored of the game. I too have gotten bored of other MMOs in significantly less time than I have been playing GW2 (SWTOR comes to mind...). It helps that this game has a pretty innovative questing system (events) that helps to eliminate some of the tedium associated with standard MMO quest patterns (i.e. go to quest giver, walk to quest, kill enemies, walk back to quest giver for loot and xp).

- GW2 has "proper" character development in that every time you level up you get skill points and trait points. You invest these in a skill tree similar to other MMOs, as well as a trait which improves your stats/passive abilities. See the GW3 wiki for more details.

- The game difficulty is fairly easy at first, I won't lie. If you have the patience to reach level 30 (corresponding to the first dungeon),  the game will then give you some insane challenges.

-I too have a full time job, and this is the MMO for the working man. It is incredibly easy to dive into for short bursts and play significant parts of the game. This seems to have been a major design criterion for this game. You don't need to set aside 4 hours to finish anything meaningful, like some other MMOs.

-I'm willing to bet this game has more progress bars / accomplishments than you can deal with.

I have played the game ~15 hours, tried norn elementalist, human thief and charr warrior. I can't explain exactly what it is with this game, but I'm just not having any fun playing it (even though I did like GW1). I obviously haven't reached the higher levels yet, but in the relatively short time I've played the game seemed way too easy. Also, the camera annoys me.

Wait till you reach the first dungeon and then you'll be complaining about how it's too hard ;-)

^^ QFT. Melee damage builds naturally have low survivability in dungeons.

Both are RPG's that came out in the last few months? This game isn't that comparable to D3 ... but it involves loot, killing monsters, and (eventually) dungeon exploration. I prefer GW2 to D3, less repetetive.
