@GOGOHeadray @lamerwaffle @AshrakAiemain Let's say you created a comic book. People love this comic book. Suddenly someone decides they'd like to make a separate series featuring your characters.
They never discuss it with you, but hey. They're releasing it for free, so where's the harm? They then ask fans of your beloved comic series to give a lot cash, cuz they just can't do it on their own.
They're trading off your stories and your characters to endear themselves to your fanbase. They didn't have to do anything but take things you've created and make it their own.
Can you see how that might be theft?
A group of friends making something together is one thing, asking for cash money off of something you don't own is theft. It doesn't matter if it would've been released for free. Money changed hands over something they had no ownership or permission to.
I can't believe people actually think Square is in the wrong here. I wouldn't be appreciative of someone taking something I created to do with as they pleased, and asking for substantial money to boot.
@LordCrash88 Are you really mad at a Sony owned studio for making Sony games? Do you honestly think a game developer like Naughty Dog wouldn't want as many gamers as possible? Seriously?
