I just got my drivers license and I'm finally looking into investing in a good reliable car, don't we all want that? lol

I'm looking into a car where I'll be driving like at least 1 hour a day, to reduce commuting times through home and university.

I wanted something affordable at used condition, reliable, as in it would last longer, with good gas milleage.

I have about 8000 bucks to spend and I would much prefer a sedan.

Mate of mine was actually asking me this and couldn't answer him. For long distance travels (he does them a lot) he's looking to buy his first car but he is overshadowed in doubt. What would be the cheapest and most economical choice in terms of fuel?

comp_atkins, I'm actually in a similar situation, went to a smaller college and looking to transfer to another university. I've already done the first semester, didn't fail any subjects but I wouldn't mind repeating them with better grades, except for the ones I hated.

I'm going to transfer, just confused if I should stop now or do this semester. The thing is that subjects are different, so, for example, if I do finish this semester, I would have completed 3 subjects from the other university for the first semester and like one for the second. My scheduling would be all over the place.

Thanks for the kind replies y'all

Im not american, nor do I live in the US, i'm actually Portuguese Allicrombie so the environment in the universities kind of varies from country to country.

As for talking to my parents, they are not having it, at all... But I'll try to actually make conversions and try to actually make them see that this is the best decision, both academically, and financially.

It's not even about the subjects, I've gotten good grades in this University, but I can't put up with the mentality that runs through the place. I've made some friends but they are very distant from me, and everybody wants to stomp on the others. The teachers are pretty much meish.

Have you ever actually done it OT? I'm thinking of doing it. Joined law school this year and I hate my university, the people here are absolutely awful, I spend almost 3 hours a day travelling from my house to the uni, uni to the house, and I'm losing my mind. I'm enjoying the subjects but I really wanna change the university, so I'm thinking of dropping out until September.

Thing is, my parents don't understand it, they are starting to hate me and have stopped talking to me. I realised they are the ones that pay and all that but come on: I've always gotten good grades, I just don't like it here. They expected me to be the prodigal son who adapts to everything. I'm not that kind of person...

Any thoughts and helpful insight?

Yes I do adamosmaki, and yeah, I do have 8 gb on the ram side but i'll have to upgrade OS

I Think everything comes to being HDD related, I've been getting disk problems, when I'm doing steam downloads for example I get the "disk is busy popup" and some websites don't even open up because "not enough disk space", i'll upgrade.

GPU, I've unninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but still, it's the same crap. Without the gpu on tho, the pc runs fine, could it be that the HDD simply is too old for such an upgraded system?

I recently got my hands in the gtx 970, a thing of absolute beauty, but after installing the drivers, it's been a disaster, everything is slow, hell, I can't even start steam downloads anymore, the speed just keeps on zaping from 0 to 10 mb every second which is unbereable. To start the browser it likes 10 or 15 seconds, it's driving me completely mad, and reinstalling the drivers didn't help, at all

-My cpu is still a 2500k i5, i've installed an H75 just recently in it but I don't think that that is the problem, since without installing the gpu, the computer runs fast and efortless

-Could it be the mobo?

-Here's the funny thing as well, the gpu is still, in gaming, a complete beast and it's been handling everything, everyday browsing through the internet and the computer is, however, impossible and a pain in the ass.

-My psu is a corsair 700w

Lol wasn't really being serious GTR12 was just joking a little bit.

Either way I'm looking for the 970, I think I'll try the Nvidia route this time, probably the Asus model. Either that or the Sapphire Tri-x r9 290

Hi guys! My 7970 fried completely and after a week of crying in my room, locked, I realised it's time to move on and get a new GPU, this time spending less money.

Wich GPU would you recommend for someone with a budget of like 250 euros (can stretch to 280-300 easily).

[QUOTE="ArchDemon123"]

I'm only 17:

-But to realise that tons of people of my age have all they want and will prosper in the future due to their families fortunes not having to do a single thing about it, while I was born in a poor family that doesn't have much money and probably won't be able to pay my college. On top of that, i'm busting my balls to finish school, and I will probably go straight into unnemployment in this crappy country I live in.>MirkoS77

My friend grew up without a father and struggled financially all his early life. But growing up lacking taught him many things that hugely benefit him now. He's now rich, knows the value of work and appreciates things a lot more. Seriously man, it may suck now for you but it'll benefit you in the end if you can learn from it. I have mad respect for my friend as not everyone can raise up like that.

btw, do you live in the U.S? It's an awesome place to live compared to the majority of the world.

Thanks for that, I'm hoping I can pull through this. No I'm European, from Portugal to be more precise. It's a beautiful country, but it's struggling a lot financially.
