America! The land of the free and the home of the brave. Too bad both of those remarks are simply in comparison at this point. We have more freedom than most countries, I'll give it that, but apparently the nation and I have a disagreement on that use of the word "Free."
When I think freedom, the only words that come to mind are "flowing" and "unburdened." When half of my life has been chained down by debts, hate and censorship, I hardly feel like I'm flowing - more like trickling. A broken faucet with a constant leak, agitating the world with the constant "Blip Blip Blip" of dis function. Unburdened also follows these qualifiers I suppose, when debt feels like a pile of stones shoved onto your back as the little man on top screams at you to push forward. The hate? It's everywhere and anywhere. It's the man who believes his life is more important than the person in front of his, so he cuts them off quickly in his car. A sharp turn into a golf course is all it takes the cause a family pain. Does he care? No - on the contrary - YOU got in HIS way. Hate is the woman who takes out her life's anger on a simple customer support representative simply because she didn't watch her bill. Does she care? No. It's the supports fault that she ran up her bill. It all makes sense. Censorship... where do I even start with this? The simple fact that if you show half a breast in a video game it becomes a giant problem? That woman MOANED! Quickly! Inform Fox News! Didn't you know that it's the video game/music/movie industry that's ruined our generation?
Allow me to open the curtain to our main show! The blame. No one likes to point fingers. Hell, even fewer like having the finger pointed at them. This is my finger and who am I pointing at? The parents. You had a child, wonderful, a miracle of nature... for the first few weeks. To the parents who have as many as they can to simply suck up the welfare so they don't have to get out of their chairs - What is your problem? Each child you bring into the world is another job needed. When you overpopulate it brings absolutely no good, it's all selfish greed. But why should you care? You'll be dead long before you see the problems you've caused. To the parents who take no interest in their child's interests - Why did you even have one? Do you think that the feeling your child has when they come home with a B+ on their report card only to have it quickly shot down in insignificance wont have a lasting effect? You're turning their life into a living hell. To the parents who only pretend to care, the ones who quickly aim to point a finger at the media whenever their child does something unacceptable - If you don't teach them right and wrong, it's your own fault. The giant group of parents in this group have aided more than enough in the censoring of nearly every form of media in the U.S. Sit down with your kids. Learn something about them on a personal level. Don't try to be a buddy - you'll never be one. You're the parent, there the child. When they step out of line, you're the one expected to step up. When they do something right give them praise every now and then.
For the love of god, close your legs.
Take an interest in your children.
Stop blaming the music.
Stop blaming the movies.
Stop blaming the games.
If nothing else, take this snip of an interview between Michael Moore and Marilyn Manson:
Michael Moore: "If you were to talk directly to the kids at Columbine.... what would you say to them if they were here right now?"
Marilyn Manson: "I wouldn't say a single word to them I would listen to what they had to say, and that's what no one did."
