Yeah, that's not how it works at all. If a game has fantastic graphics and sound, and abysmal gameplay, the graphics and sound categories won't suffer because of that gameplay. We use the tilt category to balance out the scoring in the way you're talking about, because that's what it's designed for. If you're noticing that certain scores are falling in line with the other categories, it's usually because we think those categories are of a similar level of quality. It's quite rare to find a really good looking game that plays horribly, though it does happen, and we've scored them accordingly. Go look up our review of DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball, if you want an example. Unless you have some specific examples to cite, there's not much I can do other than tell you that you're incorrect in your assumption.

I live up in the North Bay, use the same Comcast cable connection that you do, and I get around 600 to 700 kbps from home, even with other stuff being downloaded in the background. Assuming we're hitting the same GS download servers, it sounds like Comcast is probably just doing a bad job of routing you to our servers from where you are. Not trying to pass the buck, but as I said, I'm in the same area, use the same connection type, and get consistently excellent speeds from home.

First off, apologies for this. We run a little competition on our forums where users can submit their own banners to go on our gamespaces. In this event, it appears someone just googled for some Sonic art and grabbed whatever they could find. I've asked our production team to remove the banners on these gamespaces. Sorry for all the trouble.

[QUOTE="HAL-9000"]I'm amazed, administrative response. Fantastic.

I understand perfectly the need that it willl take some time to get it working. And as someone else mentioned besides the core bugs we all know about the forum essentially kind of 1/5 quit working a couple weeks ago. It seems whatever happened on that date seems to have caused it.

Alex mentions serverload yet I'm seeing this issue crop up regardless of users onboard. Granted I'm sure you guys have site statistics that may not correlate to what I've experienced, but it seems like it may be a deeper issue than just the serverload.

I know I had the issue yesterday morning at 7:00 am with under 2,000 people online and I still have the same problem between 5:00 and 6:00 pm with 5-6,000 users online.

Like I said, serverload is one contributor to the issues, but not the entirety of it. It's sort of exacerbating the problem during peak hours. Interestingly, it seems like it's mainly a select group of users that run into problems off of peak hours. I know that I only ran into blank pages and other such unpleasantries between the hours of 12-7 PM pacific. I'd go back at like 10 PM and wouldn't have a single problem. But we've heard enough complaints from some users to believe that there are those running into near constant instances of this. Which is extra-great, since we really can't reproduce the problem here at the office at all.

Like Beth any myself said, we're all well aware of how much this sucks, and the right people are plugging away at it.

The performance issues that this topic speaks of began about a week and a half ago. Yes, there have always been loading problems off and on, but whatever is causing this issue is being caused by something very specific. One day, the forums weren't having loading problems. The next day, probably 20% of the page loads I've seen have shown database connection errors. I would think that it would be relatively simple to track down what change caused this problem and revert it.RockMFR

Definitely not that simple, or it'd have been dealt with by now. A lot of it is related to serverload, and there are some other extenuating circumstances. Believe me when I say that I'm just a touch more than miffed by the situation, since from home, I'm running into the exact same issues as everyone else. However, if there were a magic, quick fix that existed for this, it would have been found by now.
