Gamespot subscribers actually have a chance to talk with their own money here, if you are so outraged with whats happened then cancel your subscription and switch to a free account. It seems CNET doesn't listen to subscribers views and opinions but it might listen to their withdrawal of direct debits.

As i said in the UK post on this subject its a sad day for gaming. CNET/GS has managed to set a precedent that allows large game corporations to threaten anyone financially who doesn't like their games. This essentially means you can no longer trust a review site that allows game companies to advertise directly on their site.

The other simple way to show how we all dissaprove is dont buy Kane & Lynch, tell everyone you know not to buy it, pour scorn on Eidos and the game in every forum you know of. The developers might just get the hint when they realise they have wasted millions in development;that we and the reviewers are their customers and you dont bully your customers without bad consequences.

Bought The Witcher today, how the hell did this get missed by most of the major game review sites? Theres a few bugs in there but the storyline is fantastic, its adult theme makes a really nice change. The combat system isn't to exciting but in fairness it does save on constant mouse clicking!

Ive yet to really get into the full depth of the game but from what little ive seen so far im going to love it!

Runs like a dream on very high although unless theres a revised version of the demo out it crashes when I put FSAA on.

Great concept and fairly nice gfx on this shooter. They've also brought back the destroyable walls concept that dissapeared a few years back. Essentially the world is in anarchy with martial law everywhere (hmm never heard that one before....) and you are a time travelling, time bending warrior that well, runs around and helps the citizens kill the soldiers. Thats about it from all I could see of the demo. The nice bits involve the bending of time. You can reverse, stop and slow time to suit your needs. Slowing we've seen in many games but the stop and reverse features allow you to do some neat stuff for example. You can stop time when faced with a tank, run up to it, toss a couple of grenades into the barrel, get back to a safe distance then start time again and BOOM! Reversing time allows you to say remove debris that has blocked your path long enough for you to run through before time restores itself. A case of a promising game but so much focus has gone into the scenery and timeshifting that the actual feel of the shooter is pretty poor. Its also extremely linear and you can't deviate from the given path much at all, other than blowing up a few walls here and there.

I quit, went back, sold my account, bought a new one, quit again, went back and finally about 4 months ago quit for good and uninstalled it. Since then my social life has gone through the roof, my wife loves me again and im playing a whole range of different games with different people.

Best of all, I don't miss playing it one single bit, which after 3years of my life is some going!

The Witcher or Oblivion if you fancy losing yourself for 120hours or so. Them two really will take you 6 months to finish, the learning curve isn't too steep and you don't need to play them constantly to get anywhere.

BF2 is starting to be old news.

ETQW is fairly busy right now, CoD4 due out shortly although no one knows what the online element will be like. TF2 from the Orange box if you fancy something funny and fun to play!

I wrote a shortreview shortly after trying the demo for my clan webby.

"I wasn't sure about this one and im still not sure. It feels in terms of play like a dumbed down version of World of Warcraft mixed in with a bit of dungeon siege and the demonic pressence of diablo. Weapons and armour can be modded and upgraded so you can build your perfect spec for how you like to fight which is kind of cool. The fighting if im totally honest got really really boring after a while, all you do is run around in 3rd person and hack things down or shoot them up. Theres nothing particularly difficult in the demo. That brings me to the other complaint, the levels are incredibly linear. Essentially you just run down streets with the odd building to explore in (which all have the same layout), it just seems as though they have cut and pasted all the levels and buildings and just called it somewhere different. Graphics wise the game is very good, stunning effects, stunning visuals. Again though its let down by the fact that virtually nothing is destroyable, you are running around a wasteland of wrecked cars and telephone boxes that cant be dented never mind destroyed. Overall not that impressed."

Suffice to say I cancelled my pre-order.
