Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box is one of the few good sequels out there, I never actually owned the first Professor Layton game but my girlfriend does so I've played it and I've got to say if you like the first one then you are going to love Diabolical Box; it's the exact same game but just different story and different puzzles. Although even if you've never played the first Professor Layton, Diabolical box is a great game which is easy to get into and hard to put down.
The storyline is great and really hooks you in once you start playing, they are a tonne of characters to meet along the way, each one having a puzzle or 2 for you to solve. The puzzles themselves range from really easy ones to puzzles where you'll really have to think in order to solve them, there's also many different types of puzzles; everything from mathematical to logic. On top of that even if you finish the main game, you can still download new puzzles every week via Nintendo Wi-Fi. The only real thing I disliked about the puzzles is that the instructions aren't always very clear and this can lead to a lot of confusion and frustration at times.
There are also a couple of mini-games which involve you finding different components by solving puzzles as you go through the game.
The presentation of the game is also just as good as the original, the art work is all hand drawn and is very nice in an anime sort of way. The voice acting is also very good which helps the story to move along smoothly too.
Overall this is a great game and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a game which actually makes you think but at the same time has a great storyline to follow.

In my opinion, the second game is easily the best in the Layton series.
