People say FIFA is more realistic than PES. They say that because they've never played football (soccer)

PES has been disappointing over the last few years. Ping pong passing, keeper bugs, no 360 dribbling, a stupid AL who doesn't make intelligent runs, etc. But this year Konami has started to get serious. The graphics have immensely improved and ball physics are second to no one. The passing and shooting actually has weight in the ball. The keeper feels more like a real keeper, stopping shots, letting a few go in, and keeper mistakes. Unfortunately, there are still a few keeper bugs. (What I'm reviewing is the gameplay on Top Player and world class on both games.)

Critics say FIFA is more realistic than PES. That is what I do not get. FIFA...In real life do players always back peddle while receiving the ball? Can players really pass perfectly at point blank without getting into a good space? Can people really see that much contact through sky sports on tv? Is it normal to score a goal with a pass, a through ball, and a shot. Is it normal for keepers to inhumanly save a shot from 6 yards out? Is it normal for keepers to stand so far up and not be able to run back so all you have to do is chip it? Do passes really go that fast? Can even defenders perform tricks against other players?

PES on the other hand, is very hard to see the realistic aspect to it unless people watch and/or play football a lot. PES requires shots and passes to be timed because the game player needs to get into the right position before passing. Real players can't just pass at point blank range with a defender in front of them and execute the pass perfectly. That is the reason for the unresponsiveness of PES. FIFA is too responsive but PES is too unresponsive though. Both should do something in the middle. The contact is perfect, its not too much like FIFA nor too little. Shots and passes are weighted, unlike FIFA which it feels like the game player is kicking air. Playmaking is hard in the game as it is in real life. The gameplayer cannot just rush passes and get a goal, but needs to pass until there's an open space. In FIFA, all anybody has to do is pass, pass, through pass, and then they're past the defense.

The downfall of PES comes to dribbling. FIFA is miles ahead in 360 dribbling. I can barely notice the 360 dribbling on PES and players still run in a straight line. The players are very stiff and feel robotic even though it looks realistic if people are just watching a game. Even though PES is better in most of the categories of football, 360 dribbling is a large part of the game so I gave it an 8.5. This is the reason why critics can't tell the realism in PES. Its because of 360 dribbling.

Basically, PES needs to remodel their system and add all the positive attributes. Its an old system with new technology. The old system is restricting the new technology to grow.
