I like PES games for the create a team and love Fifa soccer games for their tactical attacking and defending options. I don't know about PES 2009, but I have played Fifa soccer 2009 against my friend, at his house, and let me just say that it feels eerily close to last years game. Again, maybe this is because I am in Med. school and get easily excited when I see both PES and FIFA games; At the moment I will go with Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series, because their game, at least, lets me create my Eastern European countries league team and EA Sports Fifa soccer 2009 doesnt!!! What a shame EA...taking out the create a team future only to add 2 new international teams and sticking in the mandatory new MLS team (San Jose Earthquakes), instead off letting people create their own teams like next years Seattle Sounders and Club Deportivo Cuenca to name a few. By the way, I am originally from Moldova and I know that they are not doing that great in qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2010 , but at least they are trying. Again, I don't understand why many teams get left out in the cold and other teams like New Zealand, who by the way play Rugby more than Football, get put in...albeit with a 1 and 1/2 star rating. What a freaking rip off; well, at least my friend is happy and he is from South America. Down in South America every new Fifa soccer game is like a blessing sent from the almighty heavenly being.

I just wonder what the hell konami is doing all this years .... lol every year same stupid game same mistakes ohhh.played fifa 09 and if pes makes all that improvemets like fifa did in last few years would be good but seems there is no idea on konami they stolen idea from fifa to crate become legend damn that ...

i agree with everything rockfletch said. PES 2008 was a total flop for me. nothing felt new and there were still so many issues with the Master League mode (the only mode i play it for) that made me so angry. 1 of them was the unchanging player value. eg. even after you've developed a player to be like the best player in the world, he'll still sell for the same low price he was when he first started. i recently played FIFA '09 and even though i've always hated the gameplay with FIFA, i had to admit it looks so much more well done than PES '08 and the gameplay much more realistic.

i'm not too bothered about graphics for PES 2009, i just want them to fix the stupid errors in ML mode and get some club licenses so they can stop using those gay names like North London for Arsenal.

i 've been playing PES 08 5 seasons with one team and it gets more interesting as the players evolve and become Supermen! it's drawback is the difficulty...does anybody know if i can increase the difficulty by cheating?

any one who says fifa is a better game is a fool. you ask any fifa fan and ask them why they think its better and the first thing they say (before they start trying to blag about how great the football is,) is licenses and graphics. yes pro wasnt the best in the 08 version but thats the only one i member playing that was like dat. n now everyone slatin it??? wtf!? graphically the new 1 looks impressive and i always maitain that fifa just looks to wooden and without any life in the animations. played demo of fifa 09 and its not bad finking of gettin it but i will def get pro aswell. any actual football player who has played at a high level or is a coach will tell you that pro is a better footballing game! hence y all the prem players play it!!

PES 2008 was a fun game to play but... fifa 08 was much better. The gameplay in PES 2008 looked and felt so fake. So far from what I've seen, 09 doesn't look any better. I'll definitely be getting fifa 09, wish I could say the same about PES 09.

All the idiots who seem to think the keeper AI is as a result of the skill level clearly think they know more about pes than is actually the case... the skill level has NEVER changed keeper AI... only outfield players... this game looks just as dumb as the last one...

I play Pes since Winning Eleven 2 and I loved PES 2008, you should not compare it to FIFA is like comparing Manchester United with Manchester City, MC can win a game some time but MU is the team you will see play. Mainly FIFA was a great game in 1995, the last 13y was just a marketing manouver, and cheeps will folow.

08 was complete rubbish! i love evo but won't be buying this unless it gets great reviews or i play it and its outstanding, But saying that i would never buy a fifa so i will probably end up with this either way!! so fingers crossed.

God I hope Konami make this game feel excellent, it looks exactly the same in the video as the flippin' last one! PES 2008 was total crap for a next gen console, utter laziness quite frankly. Uninspiring A.I, below average Master League mode and just generally felt incomplete. It pissed me right off...

I still have a go now and again with my mates, but every time I play it I find it hard to believe I'm not on an original xbox or ps2...?...the graphics are sooooo poor for a next gen console it's insulting. I can live with the non licensed teams, no biggy, but it needs to look so much better now. If it doesn't feel different to play this time with an enhanced difficulty and better game dynamics, you know, more like they're taking care in what they're doing!?!?...then I personally will check out Fifa 09 instead.. To be honest, I didn't buy Fifa 08 but from what people are saying to me it's started to take the lead in this race, and that's turning my head now.

There will be NO day 1 purchase this time around. Got my hands burnt last year with PES2008 on the PS3. Nearly converted me back to FIFA. Hopefully they have addressed the online problems they were having with the PS3. Very annoying online one minute you have the ball the next, and in a nano second, the opponent has the ball 509 metres away.

Back to 2009: I'll be waiting for extensive reviews etc maybe wait till January 2009.

oh my god the gamespot crowd are so stupid. anyone whos played pes 2008 extensively can SEE its slower, let alone feel it when we finally get to play it. and the keepers are bad because he selected it on amateur, noob, its top player all the way

one thing i hope they did better is the difficulty, pes 08 was WAY too easy, as in winning the premiership unbeaten with villa easy, and this was on top player.
