The best of the series among the NextGen Console

User Rating: 9 | Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 WII
Though there is no new surprise, however this PES 2009 WII version at least brings back the olden day beautiful gameplay of the WE/PES series which has lost in the last 2 years.

I have been keeping myself away from PES 2008/2009 on PS3. Though I bought them I sold them in relatively short time after I bought them. I just simply hate them. Graphics has improved but I just don't like it. Animation is crap. In PES 2009, especially Messi runs like a RAT being chased by a CAT. In addition, Konami totally oblivious about the online playability. They must be joking around with ther fans. Based on this dissapointment I have been playing FIFA 2008/2009. Though I am happy that at least there are soccer games better than PES 2008/2009, but of course it is just a different class than the gameplay that the WE/PES series has offered in PS2 versions.

Once in a while, I still play the PS2 version of WE9/10/2007. They are much much better than the PS3 version of PES 2008/2009.

Now, back to the main subject. I just bought this WII version two days ago and surprise surprise. I am happy that it has the great gameplay of the olden days of WE/PES series. It has a slightly better graphics than the PS2 version. The ball flowing nicely (not like the PS3 version). It does not stick too much to the ground. When you play it you will feel playing soccer right away. The game is very fluid. If you are the PES/WE fans you know what I am talking about. Something that FIFA does not have and the old WE/PES have.

Online playability is ok I think. It has 3 sliders where you can select whether you only want to play with a highQ connection-medium-any. So if you can find any opponent with highQ-medium you will find the online playability is acceptable to decent. I have played 3 games so far with medium slider. 90% of the match went smoothly. I did not see any teleporting.

The only downside I found is that finding opponent is not easy. They don't have lobby. It takes long long time before you can find anyone. Probably because there aren't many people having PES 2009 wii (yet). Hopefully, with more good review about this game, all will buy the WII version of PES 2009.

Simply worth it.
