"Ow!" "Sorry" You shot me with an Arrow? Wtf?

User Rating: 4 | Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time GC
The Problem with Prince of Persia is that this game was good back in the day but it's one of those games that, unless you played it back in it's hay day, it hasn't stood the test of time.

The games has many glitches which include your female friend Farah dying suddenly which means you get a game over. In it's defense you can retry as many times as you need which is great because every room is daunting and difficult beyond reasonable standards. Starting out is "meh ok not to hard" then they crank up the difficulty and give you the sands of time to fix your many, many, mistakes but then at the end makes the levels even harder and takes away your sand and puts you in a "No F*%^ing Up" Scenario.

The Cherry on this already awesome game is the "Fantastic" game play which is flawed and basic. You have tanks of sand which can be used to reverse time, slow it down or if combined with your combat sand tanks to freeze times and kill many enemies very quickly. Reversing time is basically an over used game mechanic for a combat that can fix mistakes made on your part for not dodging that guy who you can't vault over like the other smaller enemies. Oh so you can't Jump over them? Nope. Can you dodged around them? Sure if there is nothing in your way, because if you roll into another larger enemy he will knock you down as well. I found myself more than once, twice, thrice, trapped on the floor between 4 huge skeletons getting beat on with no way to get out unless I take a beating because they all attack in perfect timing to keep me down. Back to moves though, which are lacking to none existent. Your common special sand attack let's you freeze one enemies in time and then you slash him twice to kill him but you can be interrupted during this attack so it's basically a waste of time because unless you fighting one on one you'll probably get attacked from another direction while performing said move so you best not waste your time. Your next attack is the Freeze time where you use all your attack and sand tank to kill lots of stuff, which is great but expensive. In this game Water is life so drinking water restores your health bar but doing this during battle is impossible because the enemies chase you and you need to be far enough out of combat for the button to drink to change from it's combat use to drinking. One last thing. Turning back time doesn't always work and sometimes it won't rewind correctly and you'll just be out of luck.

I will however give props to the skeleton storyline because it has a certain Aladdin charm which is well done. Too bad it's miss placed amongst bad gameplay. Bottom line is that Prince of Persia and the sands of time doesn't live up to today's game standards and is only going to be enjoyed by people who played it back in it's day.
