Prince of Persia is back, and does it in style!

User Rating: 8 | Prince of Persia PC
Prince of Persia not only marks the return of the Prince after a while but also my return to gaming. And indeed a beautiful one.

Story:
Prince of Persia has been known for its story ever since its inception in the early 90's. The new POP also delivers on it but compared to the sands of time trilogy it's a big dud. The story isn't that satisfying as one might expect from the game as some characters are just half-baked. However the story basically revolves around the Prince & Elika who are trying to save the city from the clutches of Ahriman, an evil God. Few elements of the story aren't explained well and there are certain loopholes too. Although not gripping, it still manages to keep your attention.

Gameplay:
This gameplay of POP is quite entertaining from awesome fight sequences to insane acrobatics, the prince does it all and in style. This time around you also have Elika to help you not only in the story but also to save you from the plummet of death. Throughout the game, Prince and Elika heal the fertile grounds in the temple and collect seeds, therein lies the monotony of the game, however since all is done in style, you actually love to replay those parts. Puzzles are few but fun. Fans expecting the same feel of the sands of time trilogy may be disappointed in the Prince combat styles as he battles just one enemy at a time. No chopping or slicing this time around :(

Graphics:
Outstanding is the word. From textures to lighting to bloody brilliant effects, everything is done to perfection. The environments are huge (but there isn't much to explore though). The visuals are at best when in combat as you see your screen ignited with those wondrous and magical elements which only make the game worth playing.

Sound:
The soundtrack of Prince of Persia is fresh and innovative from the occasional orchestra beats to heartpumping music during fights. Its extraordinary Voice acting is top notch too.

Pros: Splendid Visuals, Great Soundtrack, Brilliant Acrobatics and Platforming
Cons: Low on story, a let down compared to previous games

All in all, Prince of Persia is a good game with splendid visuals. Not great on story but high on concept. If you are looking for some serious action, Prince of Persia is worth the buy!
