Prey brings nothing of revolutionary, nothing that had been seen, but make us feel something like no other game can, because is surprising well made. The use of the same engine of Doom 3 is the power and the weakness of this game.

Prey can show us stunning textures and lights that even the most beautiful current game can't show, making the atmosphere something unique. Different of the others games that use this engine, Prey brings a new look to it, using more accurate and real shadows, great looking bump maps and give to the light a new life with the use of glow effects. Even the enemies are much more well maked, with more details. But, even with all that improvements, it's still feel dated in front of some games of the same time.

Then, the simple but involving history. Domasi is a descendant of a powerful Cherokee tribe (but he don't believe it) and he's in love with a girl from his tribe, but never had the courage to said to her that he loves her. Soon, he get involved in a bar fight and, suddenly, a green lights appear and suck everything (that includes Domasi, his girl and his grandfather). At this point, he have to fight to survive, rescue his girl and save the planet from an alien race. And, even if you get in the middle of the game and didn't have reasons to play, I say that you didn't gave the minimum attention to the history, because it's one of the reasons we have to want to play it, to know what comes next and how we'll get out of that mess. Also, the great voice acting easily makes Domasi a nice charismatic hero.

And all this is told followed by an incredible sound track! I just loved the music of this game, that just get to pass all the moment in form of music to us, getting in the same level of one Hollywood's movie sound track that, in many ways, involve us.

But it's evident that Prey lack in some details that makes all the difference, like the poor and ridiculous AI and the few types of enemies. The puzzles, where in the beginning surprise us with the use of the "Spirit Walk", portals, energy doors, platforms and elevators, just stay repetitive in the middle of the game. Even staying more complex, you just need to make all the same.

Because of the Damasi's powers, the game had a pace incredible fast, with no need to make quick saves while we're in game. We can't choose one difficult. It just auto adjust along our play, making sometimes we lose half of our HP in an explosion and another time we just die or loose almost all our entire HP. And even if we die, we don't need to worry: just shot down some spirits to get back to life. This make the game really fast, because we don't need to make all again, even when fighting the bosses, making the game easier. For some, this can be good and, to others, can be very disappointing.

But, in the very end of the game, when all end, it's impossible to say that didn't worth it all the time (and money) to finish this game. The history is simple surprising and make us stay wanting more. Then, the almost perfect sound track, amazing level design, puzzles that just bring your sense of space and gravity to a new perception, good weapons designs... put all together and you have one FPS that can't pass blank and, if you already played it, you'll never forget it.
