Very rarely does a game like this come out. A game that not just stuns one with its wits or smarts, but quite possibly creates its own genre. What other game lets you create a portal anywhere, then lets you place another one somewhere else in the environment, then not only lets you go thru them back and forth to solve puzzles, but also allows you to, in a way, bend the environment to your will. Only Portal could do that, and even though that might sound rather simple, it opens up whole knew ways for ones mind to be amazed and boggled at the same time. Yes, Portal is indeed an awe-inspiring and mind boggling game, and to be honest, you'd think that a game where the whole premise is set around creating portals in order to escape the clutches of a mad A.I. and the confines of a deep underground test facility, would not be that interesting I terms of story, rhythm and pacing, but amazingly it does. In fact it's part of what makes Portal so memorable. Lets face it, without its story driven narrative Portal would be, though, still an amazing game, missing something special. In a way the story and the puzzle solving gameplay comment one-another. For those of you who have not played it yet I wont spoil it for you. I will simply say this, Portal is by far one of the freshest, most engaging interactive experiences, that I believe, you will ever have. Overall, a mesmerizing, rich and unforgettable journey. I seriously doubt you'll find a more engrossing, innovative puzzler on any of the other platforms.
