- "Amazing"
The first Portal game was awfully enjoyable. Short, but enjoyable. The second
Portal game has every element that made the first game so good... and more.
You once again play as Chell, the test subject of the first Portal game. You wake
up in a room in the middle of what seems to be the wreckage of the Aperture
Science labs. As you go through the scenarios, you realize that there is
something very wrong with the place. Are the Aperture laboratories truly
destructed or..?
There are no many changes in the gameplay itself. You still hold control of a Portal gun, you can still carry those adorable Companion Cubes and you will find several elements that were present in the previous game. As it couldn't be any different, there are several interesting puzzles and a couple of new elements to deal with to add a bit of a variety in the puzzles. Once again, the puzzles are all well-planned and are really fun to solve. Unlike its predecessor, the impression I got from this game is that it depends a lot less of the players' reaction time and more on HOW they solve it, which is great and makes it easier for people who have trouble playing these kinds of games with the controller.
One cool feature of the game is the multiplayer support. Regardless if you're playing on your PS3 or on the PC, if you have a Steam account you can play from the PS3 with a friend that plays on PC. And if are not a friends person, you can also play the game with a stranger, though it will probably not be so fun since the problems solving does require a bit of coordination and the lack of the use of a headset may make all the difference. Either the Single Player and the Co-op modes are actually quite long, so you don't have to worry so much about "oh, the co-op mode doesn't last for long". It does. There is a lot to be done, specially if you are planning to get all trophies/achievements.
As for the bad thing about the game: if you had problems with motion sickness with the previous game, the second one won't be different (personal tip that kinda worked for me: if you play a bit of a FPS game on the PC - my choice was Team Fortress 2 - before going to Portal 2, the motion sickness seems to take longer to manifest).
Other than this, I don't think I have any complaints about this game. Awesome game, awesome story, awesome characters, new features, new challenging puzzles, cool co-op mode. Definitely recommended.

A cleverly-written story and a broader, crazier set of puzzles makes this the definitive Portal experience.

If you liked the original Portal you'll love this. It's everything from the first game, with everything it missed out.

In this video, I present a thesis on the ending to Portal 2 that is an alternate interpretation of the ending than the straightforward, face-value interpretation. Obviously, spoilers abound.Posted May 9, 2011
