The premise of Portal 2 is basically the same as Portal was, you will be traversing a lot of chambers mainly using your portal gun to open doors and reach places that are otherwise not reachable, or simply to get momentum, in addition to taking advantage of some new puzzle elements such as bouncing and slippery gel, cubes that redirect lasers to activate switches, redirect lightwave bridges to walk on or float in funnels to reach other areas and advance further on.
The story goes much further and deeper this time which will take you about 10 hours to complete. The experience never gets boring thanks to progressively newly added elements in later chambers. Expect a lot of unforeseen twists and humor, both in story and gameplay.
Portal 2 also has a cooperative mode to play, which is possible both online and offline split screen. Both players will have their own portal guns and can open up two portals each. Chambers you solve in coop are not those found in the single player experience, but are instead new chambers designed for two players and 4 portals. The lack of voice chat can make this experience a bit frustrating, especially when you know where to go and what to do but your partner doesn't, it can take a while for him to figure it out and understand what you are trying to tell him by using the available signs, indicators and gestures.
No matter who or what you are Portal 2 should not be missed, it's one of the most innovative and ingenious games of all time with plenty of humor and puzzles to make you glued to the screen for hours to come. All of the solutions are simple in nature and can be solved in a minute or less if you know what you are doing, but getting to that knowledge is a journey well worth experiencing.

In this video, I present a thesis on the ending to Portal 2 that is an alternate interpretation of the ending than the straightforward, face-value interpretation. Obviously, spoilers abound.Posted May 9, 2011
