Can you link your steam account with more than one PSN account? For example I have brothers, who each have their own PSN account with friends that can only play the PC version and we all want that cross-platform functionality. Can we each use the same steam account while in different PSN accounts or does steam link to that first PSN account?

If this is possible, it should also enable co-op with a single copy of the game, right? If I link my accounts, redeem my PC copy and then my girlfriend logs into the PS3 copy with her PSN and steam account linked, co-op would be possible with a single copy of the game while I'm using the PC copy.

When I buy this game, can I give my code to a friend so he can use it? Are we still allowed to play together if I do?

    I don't fully understand this.

If I buy a PS3 copy of Portal 2 and sync my PSN to my steam account. Then I play on my pc, whilst my brother plays on a diffrent PSN account (same copy). Would that work? Or is every copy PS3 also linked to that unique code for the PC version?

I'm not worried about also playing it on my PC, should I still link my PSN account?

I love KH BBS, it's the reason I got a PSP and I don't regret it.

^ Yup, that works. A lot of misinformation to make you think you can't play online with PS3 and PC with the same copy. Like he said, all you have to do is make a new PSN account for the PS3 version.

You can unlink a PSN ID from as Steam account by contacting Steam support and asking them to unlink the accounts. Be sure to provide the PSN ID and the Steam account you want to unlink.

I have a question, I just got the game like 20 mins ago and am about to play. My question is since the PSN is down and I can't link my steam account, will my trophies earned on ps3 carry over to steam once the PSN is back up? Or will it only work if my accounts are linked from the beginning?

Make your friend a PSN account, start up Portal 2 and press select. create and link up the PSN and steam then give your friend all the info for the PSN/steam account you just made. You can give him the code and he can download Portal 2 on the PC, then log back onto your PSN and add him as a friend. Then you can play on PS3 while he plays on PC.

So does this in effect waste your ability to link the game to your PSN? For instance, is the Steam link required to play online co-op? I just picked up the game and want to do this correctly. I understand the part about making a separate PSN for the friend, but is that before or after you make a Steam account for yourself. Thanks!

What about being able to gift the game on Steam?

For example, I had already had Portal via Orange Box on PS3, but afterwards when Valve gave out a free version of Portal for Mac users signing up for Steam, I gifted my copy of Portal to my cousin since my laptop can't run the game anyways. If I sync my Steam and PSN accounts, will I still be able to 'gift' my free Steam copy of Portal 2 to my cousin and still be able to play co-op with him? Thanks in advance.

Can you download your copy of Portal 2 on the PC without linking your PSN to your Steam?

But is it possible to refuse these awesome things and instead use the code to gift a PC Portal 2 to a friends steam account?
  • May 11, 2011 1:12 pm GMT
^ Guys the redeem code is only valid for people with linked PS3 accounts.

Also, love how TC didn't include the fact you NEED to be signed in to PSN to link your account. Sure it should be a given, but plenty of people are dumb.

I know this has been answered but I just want to make sure before I redeem anything. To play co-op with only one copy you need to use a separate PSN account, correct? You can't have one account playing PS3 and PC together?

I love how Valve didn't confirm that, and therefor if I had said it it would have been an assumption. Which you generally try to avoid when creating a sticky.
