Possible secret area (but probably not)?

In chapter 7, right at the end, where you have to coat the absolute crap out of everything with Conversion Gel, just as you come out of the double doors from the test area and before you go through the EXIT door, if you look to your left and down youll see a portalable surface a ways down. Im pretty sure that this is a section that youve already been past, but just in case its not, has anyone else noticed this, attempted getting to it, or successfully gotten down there? I dont think you can get down there because once you pass through the first of the double doors from the test area it closes shut, and theres no other portalable surfaces between there and the emancipation grill. Thats why I doubt its a secret area and am thinking its just a previously passed section, but thought Id mention it anyway.

Thats the problem, once you get to the bridge where you can see the area Im talking about, you cant go backwards as the doors to the last test chamber you come through shut closed, and the only way forward is through an emancipation grill. And you cant jump over the railings either, as theyre too high.
I might just have to submit to the fact that I cant get to it, and that its likely a previously passed area. Just thought Id check if anyone else noticed it, thats all.
