I'd just say cuz people are conformist posers as mentioned by many before. I picked blue because I don't like the color red, silver cuz my brother got gold, pearl cuz that's what my friends bought me. This time around idk which one, not really worried too much about it.

Eh, I never really cared about which version I got. I just got the one that had more version exclusives that I liked. I never paid much attention to anything else. So far I'm going with the Arceus deer over the black dragon thing of doom. Awesome names for them, I know. <.<

For the same reason Black and Black 2 were more popular than White or White 2. X comes before Y alphabetically and people are lazy.
