Loved the originals? Get it for the nostalgia. Never played them? Get it anyway. This game is the best RPG ever made.
They have completely revamped every town and route, making them look even more beautiful and detailed than ever. The graphics surpass Diamond, Pearl and Platinums by far. All the important buildings have their own style to them, so everything doesn't look the same anymore. Also, if you're close to the water, you can actually hear it. Those small details make this the best Pokémon game ever. They also made some 3D cutscenes which look amazing on the DS.
The music is simply stunning. This soundtrack defines the word "perfect". If you've played the originals, you will immediately recognize the songs and get caught off guard by nostalgia. Even though I haven't heard some of the songs in years, I can still sing along. Beautiful soundtrack.
As I said earlier, there are two regions in this game, just like the originals - Kanto and Johto. Everything is bigger than ever, and Kanto isn't watered down anymore - Viridian Forrest is back.
This game lasts a long time, even after beating all 16 gym leaders and the Elite Four twice (yes, there are rematches too). This time there are about 500 different Pokémon to catch and train. You can also battle and trade online with your friends. There's even a sidequest called Pokéathlon, which is basically the improved version of the contests.
There's so much to do in this game, and it's the definition of a perfect RPG. Get this no matter what, you won't regret it. I promise you.
