While this is technically better then the 1st generation I just don't find it as enjoyable.

I've reviewed both the first generation of pokemon and the third generation of Pokemon and both were some of my favorite pokemon games, ever but what about second gen was it just as good? Well I do love Second gen it is an outstanding generation of pokemon, however though it seems like everyone who is nostalgic about the first two gens of Pokemon say this one is better and that their our so many errors with the first one and blah, blah, blah. Everyone has opinions and that is fine, but I hate hearing people whine about stupid stuff, sure the first generation even though its my favorite, is terribly flawed their our a ton of flaws with this game, but I still love it, sure maybe I am looking through my nostalgia shades with it and sure I gave it a ten out of ten on my review but I still stand by that because even though it does have some major flaws in it, I just love the journey and its just a game that has a great significance for me. So what do I think about second gen? Let me tell you.

Story: Is their ever really a story in Pokemon? Well.... not really and the story in this one is the same as the last one to be the very best that ever was well, except this one has a little more depth to it because your rival is actually Giovanni's son(I think or is that in HeartGold? lol... not sure.) This is the reason he hates team rocket and is such a jerk to you and hisPokemon. Like I said not much too the story but who plays Pokemon for it's story.

Presentation: Pokemon has never had a problem with its presentation throughout its six generations of Pokemon games, however Pokemon Silver doesn't have that much of a memorable soundtrack or at least an original one, don't get me wrong the songs that play in Cianwood, New Bark Town, and the National Park songs almost always make me tear up with nostalgia every time I hear them seriously this is some of the most memorable songs in a video game but when it comes to the original soundtrack that's about it, don't get me wrong their our some other memorable song but not very much and nowhere near as memorable as the first and third gen of Pokemon. They did do some remixes of past songs in the first gen cause you can go back to Kanto on this one and a lot of them are amazing and some even better then the counterpart, but I wouldn't technically call these original even if they our remixes but I'll i'm trying to really say here is That second gens soundtrack for me is not as memorable as the first and third but besides comparing them it's still an outstanding soundtrack. The graphics in this one our a huge step up from first gen for an eight bit game on the gameboy this has to be pushing the gameboy to it's limit. I know I seemed like I was nitpicking the soundtrack but it truly means something nostalgic to me so it's incredibly special with me.

Gameplay: It's your usual Pokemon type of gameplay catch Pokemon and battle them to become the champion of the Elite Four. So many people would ask whats new in this installment first off they changed Special to Special Attack and Special Defense, a necessity to make competitive play fair, and they introduced Steel type and Dark type, and theirs a whole bunch of other little tweaks, but obviously most important new Pokemon, Their our some great new Pokemon in this gen but not as memorable as last gen for me. One thing I was really disappointed with this game was the lack of Pokemon to catch right away, I mean maybe I was just looking in the wrong places but I literally had only three Pokemon up until the Elite Four since I wanted to catch new Pokemon since the last time I played the remake and I also didn't want weaker Pokemon, so like I said I feel like their was a lack of good Pokemon to start you off with. Another thing that got me angry and is mostly a nitpick but there is an old man that offers you a tour of the first city you enter you can say yes or no to this, having played this many times I said no because lets be honest its not needed but if you say no you will not get the town map, you don't need the town map to beat this game, but it is something to make things a little easier when you are searching for Pokemon, I don't get this what a dumb blunder, the town map is usually always given right to you right at the start of most Pokemon games. I know this is just a stupid nitpick but seriously come on! and as I mentioned since I was looking for a new team I couldn't really look for them without a map. Other then stupid nitpicks this game is great sure everything is similar to last gen but everything has been tweaked correctly, and it's just a really fun game, after beating all the gym leaders you can go to Kanto it's great to revisit this and just something nice to have in the game to continue on playing. The game isn't too difficult but I would say some of the gym leaders our really hard compared to last gen.

(Spoiler Alert)After going through the Elite Four your final foe is Lance. Get ready this is going to be quite a battle he's got two Dragonite's that will meddle with some of your toughest Pokemon, and he also has other amazing Dragon Pokemon. You better have your best Pokemon ready because this guy will kick you to the curb if your not on your A game. After this you are Pokemon champion yay for you huh? not any special ending but this is Pokemon you shouldn't really expect one.

Overall Pokemon Silver might not be my favorite generation of Pokemon and it might not even be the most memorable one for me, but every time I go back and play this game, I just have so much fun, their is a great charm to this game that makes this game a lot of fun to play and sure some might see it as a little too similar to the previous generation but for me I just love it even if it has a close resemblance. Any Pokemon fan can enjoy this game and can appreciate what was the start of a great series.
