Pokemon Red and Blue were released simultaneously for the GameBoy. Both versions are a great lot of fun to play and are games which almost anyone will be able to find a soft spot for and enjoy.

In the game you are a Pokemon Trainer who is setting off on a quest to complete the Pokemon League whilst catching as many Pokemon as possible to fill the Poke' Dex for professor Oak. You engage in battles with other trainers as you travel through the vast world of Kanto. The battle system is turn based and pokemon and moves can be differant elemental types, which can be strong against or weak to other elements. This adds strategy to the battles.

To become the Pokemon League Champion you must travel from town to town and challenge the gym leaders to win badges off them. And you can catch Pokemon in the wild by weakening them and throwing Poke' Balls at them.

The game is not in full colour and the back sprites of the Pokemon look a bit messy, but overall I have no real gripes with the graphics. Nothing spectacular, but nothing off putting either. The music is pretty cool and catchy.

Overall, Pokemon Red is a great game which even after completion still offers a lot of fun as you catch and train any Pokemon you missed. Very highly recommended.
