A Great Update to the Original With Some Great, Engrossing Side Quests Along the Way!
- Posted Dec 27, 2012 10:20 pm GMT
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 100 or More Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Grows on you"
The Good:
-Bright, colorful graphics (Kanto has never looked better!)
-Lengthy, Engrossing quest.
-The Sevii Islands are a plus (Team Rocket's shenannigans still continue there.)
-Introduction of the national pokedex gives plenty of incentive to catch all 250 pokemon of Kanto and Johto.
-Nice GBA rendition of the original soundtrack from Kanto and Johto (The updated tunes to the Pokemon center, for example, don't sound too bad either.)
-VS Seeker is a great item for rechallenging your opponents.
-Wireless adapter is a nice feature (It saves you from the trouble of tangling with link cords.)
The Bad:
-The Kanto journey hasn't changed much since Red/Blue/Yellow and it is the same pokemon format you have seen since those games were released (Once again, collecting all eight gym badges, beat the elite four, foil the evil schemes of Team *Insert generic name here*, etc.).
-Pokemon cries sound muffled (Ruby/Sapphire had the same issue.)
-Sound effects are recycled from Ruby/Sapphire and still sound a little weak.

Sabrina uses Psychic types, and strong ones at that. There were some rough spots when dealing with Mr.Mime and Alakazam, but I got through the mess.Posted Aug 4, 2011
