Don't be put off by Pokemon's childish perception. That could be said about the show or even the trading cards. However it definitely can't be said about the games and Leaf Green version is a prime example of that. Pokemon Leaf Green is an indepth RPG that any fan of the genre will enjoy no matter how old they are. I usually don't like RPG's but the pokemon games Leaf Green included have something special that makes them feel different to other RPG's while still containing many core RPG elements. Random battles, a long adventure, levelling up, evil enemies they're all there and more.

The story of Pokemon Leaf Green is that you are a young boy of about 10 and you are now old enough to set out on a pokemon adventure . After a few mishaps at the beginning you set out on your journey as a pokemon trainer. Pokemon for those who don't know are wild creatures who humans catch in pokeballs and battle with. It's not cruel however becaus epokemon enjoy this and they are great companions. As a pokemon trainer you must beat the eight gym leaders and gain a badge from each one. With the badges you can enter the pokemon league and battle the elite four. They are four elite trainers and once they are beaten you must face the Pokemon league champion. Beat him and you will become the champion. On the adventure you will battle many other pokemon trainers and meet many wild pokemon. You chronicle all the pokemon you have seen or caught in your pokedex. A pokedex is a small computer containing information on all the different pokemon. The game features many side quests and is an easy 20 hours play at least even if you just complete the main quest. If you do everything the game could last anything up to 60+ hours.

The battle mechanics are easy to understand yet do offer some depth. In a battle you face off against another trainer or pokemon. You can have up to six pokemon in your party at one time. Whoever runs out of pokemon first loses. You can choose to fight, run or use an item in a battle. Against a wild pokemon you can also throw poke balls to catch them. Each pokemon can have up to four attacks at a time. Battling is fun but it can be annoying sometimes if your trying to get somewhere and random wild pokemon or trainers start appearing.

In conclusion any RPG fan will find at least one thing they enjoy in Pokemon Leaf Green but most will enjoy it all. It's an epic adventure and is even better then the originals it is a remake of. It even manages to add in some extra content including seven small islands at the end of the advenure. It's full of so many features I could hardly mention any of them in this review but it really is deep and will keep you coming back to it for a long time. Not quite as good as gold/silver but a very good pokemon game nevertheless.
