Excellent re-make of a classic game.

Pokemon FireRed version is an excellent re-make of what already was a great game. It was an outstanding RPG then, it's an outstanding RPG now. It truly has survived the test of time, as it is still fun to travel, capture new monsters, train them, and battle them.

It's basically simple, you start off in a small town as no body kid. You recieve one pokemon, and a rival. You leave your town to go become the greatest pokemon trainer of all time. It's not as easy as it sounds.

Your first task is quite simple... Fill your poke dex. There are nearly 400 of these monsters to catch, and to get more than half you need to trade with other people. Completing your first task is more difficult than it appears.

Your second task, become the Pokemon league champion. You do this by catching new monsters, training, and evolving them to become powerful beasts to battle against other trainers in the game. You need to beat 8 gym leaders, 4 members of the elite 4, and then your rival, who is really tough during your final bout if you aren't prepared.

Your 3rd task, well it goes without say when playing an RPG. You have to save the world from evil. Basically defeat team Rocket. This task seems rather monotonous, since most of team rocket has weak grass type pokemon, or the ocasional annoying rat. The last two tasks on your list are easy, filling up the Pokedex on the other hand can be difficult. At most you'll only be able to catch roughly 1/3 of the species you can catch without trading. So, you're basically compelled to trade with other people. Overall it can be a lot of fun, however it can be difficult to someone with the species you don't have.

The game also supports multiplayer, which is what it is. You battle your best, against someone elses best. Over all its fun to see who has better teams.

What makes the game such a great RPG is the fact that you have a lot of species to raise. You can collect em' all, or just your favorites. You're not forced to finish the pokedex. Besides, you won't find any other RPG brand that will let you level up nearly 400 different characters.
