Pokemon Firered is about you facing a rival and trying to beat him.The rival also is the champion in the Elite Four later in the game.Close to the beginning you choose a starter Pokemon.First you should know water types are good against fire types and are not good against grass types.Grass types are good against water but don't do good against fire.Fire types are good against grass types but not good against water.Once you pick your starter Pokemon your rival picks the Pokemon that has a type advantage against your Pokemon.The starter Pokemon are: Squirtle (water) ,Bulbasaur (Grass-Poison),(There could be an additional type for a Pokemon) Charmander (Fire).Right after you pick your Pokemon you have to battle your rival. You also have to fill your Pokedex and battle Gym Leaders and other trainers.When you beat a Gym Leader you get a TM(Technical Machine) that you don't need for outside uses only for this game and Pokemon Leafgreen but the gym leader tells you to find a HM(Hidden Machine) which are needed for outside uses.Example:the HM Cut is used to cut a small tree that blocks your way.In Pokemon Pearl, Diamond, Platnium and more DS Pokemon games some TM's are used for outside uses like TM Flash which used to be a HM in Pokemon Firered and Leafgreen.After you beat the Elite Four you should go to Cerulean City and close to water on the very left is a man close to a cave.
