When it comes to catching the Pokemon ( in fact...you can only catch 48 in the entire game) , it feels so limited compared to the other GB/GBC/GBA games, you just want to scream. There is no way to train your own customized team in Colosseum like you could in the GameBoy days. Every Pokemon in Colosseum is programed to be caught. But, there is one great thing about Colosseum, which is the Stadium-like battles are fun. Easy as pie, but fun. The great thing about these battles is that you can train fight with two Pokemon at a time, but it is also very time-consuming. Also, once you beat the game ( which should take no less than 30 hours ), you can trade all of your Pokemon to Ruby and Sapphire. Even breed all the Pokemon except the genderless. At least we get our Johto starters back. Now for the production of the game. The graphics are very limited to appeal. The environments are dull, but the graphics for the Pokemon are great. But since it is a Pokemon game, I must make an acception when it comes to environments. The music in the game is pretty good, but is all sounds canned-up, even on Stereo and Surround. It would have been great if The Pokemon Company could have included Dolby Surround Pro Logic II. Honestly, I was expecting a great transition of the 2D Pokemon games, however, something went wrong. The Pokemon Stadium games were excellent, but, it seems Genius Sonority was trying its own thing out with Pokemon Colosseum. Like I said before, this game is extremely limited, slow-paced, and under-developed. If more time was spent into making this game, it would have been better. Pokemon Colosseum is a good game, but feels rushed into the market. Though not a terribly bad game, Colosseum could have debuted on the GameCube with a much better feel to the game- like how the GameBoy Pokemon games did. Sure, the shadow Pokemon-catching is a unique twist, but it takes a very long time to purify them. I'll just stick to the Pokemon-catching frenzy GameBoy games.
