Pokemon is a pretty dang good RPG to start with if you're just getting into the genre. Without all the unpredictable story elements, complicated game-play and outrageous difficulty that plague other RPGs, it is a relaxing experience. You begin as a child who receives a little creature, whom you use to capture other creatures and evolve them into even bigger creatures. That's not to say there's nothing to the Pokemon experience - it's rather in-depth. With 151 Pokemon to battle with and tons of moves to customize them with, as well as hours of game-play to fight through. Also, the rock-paper-scissors element can guarantee you'll be constantly thinking up new ways to get past the numerous obstacles you are presented with. The reason I cannot give this game any higher a score is that this game-play element is entirely broken with the Psychic-type. With insane amounts of power, very few weaknesses, they break the game. Also, the game is rather buggy, some of them possibly game-breaking. Don't let that deter you from a fun experience - just don't mess about too much and you shouldn't have too much trouble. With competent game-play and hours worth of it, Pokemon Blue and Red are fun games that you shouldn't pass up.
