Not bad, but simply lacking in staying power

User Rating: 5.5 | Flipull: An Exciting Cube Game GB
There are quite a lot of decent puzzle games for the Gameboy. There's Tetris, Dr. Mario, and then there's Flipull. Flipull, while certainly not a bad game, just can't hold up as well compared to these games and simply is not really that much fun to play.

It lacks the addictive qualities that makes other puzzle games on the market enjoyable and this hurts its staying power. You are presented with a large pile of blocks which you have to eliminate by shooting blocks of the same pattern into them. If you can't move, you lose a life. It's a lot more strategic than Tetris and the like, especially when the block pile gets smaller and you have less moves available but even when against the clock, it's just not as fast paced and frantic as other games and subsequently less enjoyable.

It also lacks many of the features other games have. The music is very repetitive and you can't change it between different songs. You're also stuck going through the levels in a linear fashion, lacking the ability to change the difficulty. If you get game over, you're going straight back to the start. That is, if you even want to keep playing.
