Sonys All Stars prove not to be a Smash Bros beater.

User Rating: 6.5 | PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale PS3
Nintendos brawl Super Smash Bros is one of the best multiplayer and party games to play even now Melee is well accessible. Sony probably have probably tried to take inspiration from this so how do Kratos,Drake,Sly and Ratchets brawler compare. Well it's no Smash Bros beater.

The game has characters from the worlds of Metal Gear,God of War,Ratchet and Sly and each with their own significant moveset. However while the combat is fast and frantic it doesn't have the charm of say Nintendos brawler. One of the big dissapointments is you can only knock your opponent out with a Special Attack which has up to 3 levels which are stronger the more you level up.

There are some good stages but some of the stages throw bits from other games like the God of War boss Hydra into a Ratchet and Clank game and that is confusing why not just have Nefarious in that stage. The game has a story mode for each character is virtually the same format ending with a embarrassing last boss.

Another gripe is sometimes commands in the Character Trails sometimes you need to use a weapon or tool say from like Ratchet and it fires the wrong gun which can be extremely frustrating. The online is pretty average and sometimes it lags quiet alot as well.

Overall the game has many flaws and just is like a poor mans Smash Bros. It feels like if the moveset, story mode was better and the Super Moves weren't the only way to knock out an opponent it could have been much better. It's a solid game but not in the same class as Super Smash Bros.

Overall Opinion 6.5
