Wish someone told me Slim PS3 wont play PS2 games

I feel like such an idiot for buying new. I don't get it though, it plays PSone games fine, why the **** did they leave the PS2 emulator out? I was so looking forward to putting my PS2 away for good.
I feel trolled by Sony right now.

They left out emulation so they could resell the ps2 games on psn with emulation code for just that game and the ps2 game itself

Personally I never found BC any good anyway. The games I did play played way different on PS3 then they did on PS2 especially shooters. The Dualshock 3 has a different control feel than the old PS2 controllers. I have a PS2 still which I can easily hookup to play my old games.
