Hello, recently I bought a PS3 (Slim 320 GB) and on the 360 there was an option that allowed me to set the game in the disc tray to auto boot whenever I turned on my console. Is there an option to do that on the PS3?

The only auto start is for when you insert a disk. so no you cannot set it to auto start the disc when powering on the system

I really hate that. it's not a huge inconvenience, but if i'm putting a disc in to start up the machine.......guess what i want it to do

It would be nice if it had the option to auto-run the disc, but it's not like it's difficult to go scroll down one or two icons and press X

You see, when I have to start up my console I have to insert the speakers, adjust the couch and plug in the thing. It's nice to have a quick start-up.

Sony and Nintendo took the annoying route. I always expect games/video discs to run automatically, they both failed in this generation at understanding simple convenience protocols.
You shouldn't have to spell out how you expect the game to be run automatically, designers seem to be getting pretentious about their crappy GUIs on the consoles these days.

Hehe, I always thought the PS3 was better designed because the 360 can't even keep time. But even Sony fails at simple things.

Yeah, the 360 always connected to the internet to properly set the time every time it was turned on, and for years the PS3 would slowly get faster and faster than the actual time because it didn't check the internet for the time until a fairly recent firmware update.
...Oh wait, that means the PS3 couldn't even keep time, not the 360.
Also, not having the disc auto-start when you boot the system up is not "the annoying route". It's the correct route. Sometimes I want to play an arcade game or do something else on the console, not play whatever's in the disc tray. Having to quit out of the game it auto-launched every time I wanted to play something else would be the annoying route.
Furthermore, all you have to do if the game is already in your PS3 when you turn it on is press X since it boots to the game disc icon (and if it doesn't, fix your system settings). Oh no, you have to press ONE WHOLE BUTTON, so hard. So inconvenient.

Actually first you have to sync the gamepad you use, wait for it to connect, wait for the Sony OS to load, then finally press the x button. That sometimes takes far too long, when the disc should have started already
Those are three annoying steps, when all I want to do is play what I put into the freaking tray. This is not complicated, you would think these companies would care about the end-user experience, instead they keep on complicating these simple things with steps I never was even asked about having added.
If I put a disc in the tray, that is the first priority software that should be run and promptly after that. I do not need choice before or after that step has been made on my part. I do not put the disc in the system as an option, it is the first and only priority every single time. If I wanted to remove it, I would have removed it by then.
