"What can change the nature of a man? - This game"

User Rating: 10 | Planescape: Torment PC
Subjectively I find that this game is not only a genre of it's own in terms of setting and ambient ,but also one of the, if not THE, prime example of art in video games, remaining one of the best games in history a decade later. It produced some of the most memorable characters in gaming.

I would classify it as an role playing game based on old D&D rules with a strong emphasis on a particular type of the horror genre, not the kind that produces cheap scares, but a type of textual gore and emotional horror that just sticks with you for a long time.

The game has a strong lean towards dialogue and choices, with incredible attention to depth and meaning, so much that you will feel as if it is alive, especially if you play the game more then once, without a walkthrough and with different choices. I have played the game almost half a dozen times and managed to find something new that was significant on each of those playthorughs.

If I had to say something bad about the game I would say the two biggest problems it has are the occasional game breaking bugs that can occur, and that the game simply is not meant to be adapted to easily, especially if you never played D&D, which is a huge shame because of the fact that the game can affect the player a lot in a mental sense, as I stated in the review deck. You would probably laugh if I said that the entire story, despite it's fantastical and unreal nature made me think about life and death a lot.
