A wonderful treat…

Pinball machines have been around for decades. The video game industry has tried to bring that magic home. NES Pinball did it.
With simple graphics and no flashy tricks, this game proves that less can be better. The playfield is split into two screens, allowing for ease of play without scrolling. There are no skill shots, mysteries, multi-ball; so why play without all these extras that are so common today? Because it’s fun. Pinball uses its simplicity for engaging play rather than distract with oddities and party favors. I do have to mention there is a mini-game, with a special guest appearance by Mario, but it’s really fluff; there are points to be scored here, but the game can be avoided. I personally prefer to get into the mini-game, as it provides a break from the constant battering of the steel ball, and it’s definitely a challenge.
Pinball is old school at its best. Rent it if you want to, but I recommend buying it. * * *
