Pilotwings Resort is a fairly good game with the lack of extra modes and local/online multiplayer.

Pilotwings Resort has been released for the Nintendo 3DS as a launch title. It is still a good game to play? It's technically playable and is a fairly good game overall, but the lack of extra game modes and no local multiplayer and online limits the game's overall appeal to continue playing. You might even think about trading in Pilotwings Resort for a brand new 3DS title. I never actually bought Pilotwings Resort, but I played it at Target a few years back (in 2011).

Presentation - There are two main modes for Pilotwings Resort. First, in Free Flight mode, you can explore Wuhu Island with any unlocked aircraft. (from Wii Fit/Plus and Wii Sports Resort). In order to extend the time limit unlock new features, youneed to collect as many rings and balloons as you can.

Second, In Mission Mode, you complete from objective to objective to unlock new missions. The classes are breaking down into Training, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond (achieve at least three star rank on all missions. All missions are earned from one to three stars. Bonuses can be unlocked especially the "Meca Hawk" from Pilotwings 64. It walks around the Wedge Island and appears in the alternate credits.

Graphics - This is one of the first 3DS titles to utilize the 3D effect. Don't keep the 3D mode on for too long, or you'll begin to have some headaches. The overall visuals appear crisp, clean, and colorful. The visuals are on par or slightly better than the Mii series on the Wii.

Sound - This is another area of the game that is also lacking. Although the music sounds relaxing and soothing to hear, it's pretty much the only music you'll hear when playing the two modes given. As time goes on, it may sound repetitive and annoying. There should have been a music playlist in the options menu to select between different music tracks instead of listening to the same thing over and over again.

Game play - The controls feel smooth, tight, and responsive. However, the controls can take a while to get used to when you're about to land your vehicle.

Lasting appeal - Overall, Pilotwings Resort is a fairly good and relaxing game to play if you need a break from intense and hardcore 3DS games such as Fire Emblem Awakening and Super Mario 3D Land. However, having only two game modes and having no signs of a local and download play multiplayer, online, and SpotPass, StreetPass modes which limits the player's lasting appeal and the ability to continue playing on a daily basis. This game is still worth a purchase, but don't expect to be playing for straight hours like you can in Fire Emblem Awakening

The Good - one of the very first 3DS titles to utilize the 3D effect, controls are responsive, impressive graphics, can play as your Mii avatar

The Bad - having only two game modes limit the game's lasting appeal, no local, download, and online multiplayer, StreetPass, and Spot Pass features, music is very repetitive to listen to
