So many make the mistake to compare this to XCOM including patches, DLCs and expansions. This is not as good as XCOM is today, but it is just as good, or maybe even better than XCOM was when it was first released. It does have some child issues, like being a bit unbalanced between the classes. But all in all, this has made a good impression on me, and a few patches and some DLCs later, this might even turn into a great game. If you just can't wait and need to get another game from the genre, then pick this up at once. If you're not in a hurry, then I'd probably wait some time, maybe pick up during a sale in a year or so.
