Phantom Brave another good storyline from NIS. Much more serious than other NIS games. I classify this as Drama.

Like I said, this game is drama. It's a sad story about an orphaned girl who's only friends are dead people. And because of that ability the majority of people who meet her believe she is evil and possessed. This game was very hard at times due to the confine system NIS fiddled with. This meant you had to put your phantom characters into inanimate objects and deal with all sort of status ups and downs or certain effects. The really bad part is that the phantoms can only stay in a certain amount of rounds in the combat. So not only do you have a limited amount of characters you can pull out and items you can summon them into, you also have to time your summonings in the battles as they tend to be very long at times. The story is short, but challenging and it's significantly harder to make it through than your average NIS game. Theres no new game plus so no restarts, but you can do levels as many times as you like. Now whats broken about it. The weapon system is way too simple. You can buff up a weapon strong enough that any character can 1 hit kill anything and have any skill, if you fuse enough weapons together and upgrade enough times via fusionist & blacksmith. Also the steal system is terrible, it's based on level so if an high level enemy steals your best weapon from you you're unable to steal it back. This game featured a new gridless movment system which was a failure due to the AI of the characters that would get them stuck in certain places and make them hop up and down. There was also a new out of bounds system where your character or enemies would die if they fell off or were thrown off a map the shoddy AI for the movement can leave you pulling your hair out in this instance. It's not too hard but the difficulty changes dramaticly between levels and you can find yourself falling behind rather easily if you dont abuse certain broken aspects of the game. It is worth playing though, and it is quite challenging. Whats best is it's very cheap to buy. I got mine for 11$ used.
