Shocked at what the Xbox is still capable of.

I’ll be honest with you I didn’t really have much hope for this game, so I only rented it out.

Right from the start, the graphics where “Oh my god!”,I thought I was still in the cut scene. The initial few minutes where you head from the ship to the island, I spent looking around at the detail, the falling rocks, the sea, and the people on my boat.

As the game goes on, it stays at the same level of detail; it’s like playing a cut scene.
The story line gripped me, almost as much as Half Life 2 did (PC ver), a bold statement I know, but it keeps you thinking. The interaction between the other characters is really good, especially the way you can get them to throw you their weapon. Also the characters AI is pretty clever too, When I was faced with a handful of creature attacking me, the woman character actually helped out and killed a few.

Onto the weapons, so far I’ve only had the hand gun and the shotgun, oh and the spear. So far so good, I especially like the spear, the way you can dip it into the flames and light then end, then use this to light bracken that’s in your path, or even throw at a creature heading towards you.

There is just one thing I found slightly annoying about this game, while playing, the characters with you seem to say things after the even has happened or at the wrong times, for example there was one point where I had a few centipedes attacking me, I killed them all, the music changed and we were heading down a corridor, only to here “only one left”, or “behind you”. Or where the music gets intense and you’re being attacked from every angle, one of the characters started talking to me about the storyline, Bizarre.

All in all a very good game, I only switched it on to have a look at the first scene, and ended up playing for a couple of hours. The game does seem quite short though, I spent the couple of hours slowly playing through the game and taking in the scenery, and when I switched it off, I was on 14% completing.

This game shows what the XBOX is capable of and shows it’s still got life in it yet.
