Persona 2: Innocent Sin User Review

Tsuska

A sinister, dark world with an incredible psychological storyline, makes this one of the great RPG games in history!

Difficulty:
Easy
Time Spent:
20 to 40 Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Surprisingly good"
Persona 2: Innocent Sin brings you from the world of the original Persona game, dark, sinister and psychological. A beautiful world is created in a very Japanese city. Japanese culture is portrayed brilliantly in this game, fromt he uniform, to the school. However this game lacks one major thing. And that is English =P

Story:
Like the original story the main character and his group arises with an incredible ability just as darkness and the mysterious character Joker threatens to destroy all humanity in the city. A great psychological storyline suck you in and keeps you thinking. The dark sinister world with the touch of humour surely makes this game one of the most interest and beautiful RPGs every released. (to actually understand the script there is a translation out there somewhere)

Gameplay:
Very similar to the original game with some tweaks here and there. Still just as brilliant but could have been better. Involves conversations (which i can't understand), fighting with guns and swords and persona's...powerful beings that reflect a characters inner self. (masquerade)

Graphics:
Not much to say here, however everything looks beautiful. Very, very Japanese and cute. Could have been polished a bit better but still, very anime like and very nice.

Sound:
There are japanese voice acting everywhere, but i can't understand it. However the voice is NOT annoying and thus enjoyable to listen to even though I don't understand it. However I am used to watching subbed anime and films so... Music is nice to listen to and usually fits with the situation. Nothing too memorable though.

Overall:
A MUST play game if you understand Japanese. However if you can't stand working out what the spells do than it would be a bit...or very difficult to play. There are translations to use, although somewhat tedious, but allows you to know the story and the dialogue and also some menus. Walkthroughs have never been so welcome before as well...lol

so...

Pros:
+ Brilliant Sinister, Psychological Story
+ Great Gameplay
+ Lots of Dialogue
+ Tastefully Beautiful
+ Comic Relief is great =D

Cons:
- Lack of English
- Some dungeons are annoying to do (too repetitive in some ways)
- A bit of grinding needed (just a bit) [Translation guide said lv 87+...I did it lv 54 (or something like that)]

EDIT:

After playing the game in a more in depth manner, I've realised a few more pros and cons of the game. Overall I've increased my score... because the story was just...great =D
