A solid port of an old classic.

I never played Perfect Dark on the N64 so I was excited to finally play this updated version on the Xbox 360. While some aspects of the game don't hold up as well as they did when it was first released this was still a fun game. The game has you playing as Joanna Dark as she helps the Carrington Institute and its alien allies the Maians fight against rival corporation dataDyne and the Skedar. The first thing you may notice is that the graphics have been updated for this release. While it's no Gears of War visually it still looks better than the original. The game's control scheme has been tailored to work with two thumb sticks and the game feels just right this way. Shooting your enemies is slick and fun but still feels a tad off. All of the weapons are useful and fun to shoot and can be creative at times. The game is not long by today's standards. You can finish it between 10 and 15 hours, longer if you increase the campaign's difficulty which will add new objectives for you to complete. The AI can leave a lot to be desired as enemies will usually just run around randomly to avoid being hit and can miss you at times when you are close by. Also the level design can be frustrating as it can be difficult to tell where you need to go or what you need to do or destroy to progress. But all this can't stop Perfect Dark from being fun. There are plenty of single and multiplayer modes to toy around with and even a few Achievements to earn. Not an amazing game, but a fun classic none the less.
