remember how in the original PD game, the combat was visceral and satisfying? bullets painted your foes red and blood splattered all over the walls, the way the enemies would scream 'YOU BITCH!'  and 'AHH IM DYING!' as you painted them red....little touches like thatmade PD awesome on the n64. Also in the original, you  could explore the levels and have fun playing around in them. In this game that feeling is gone. FPS campaigns today are all too scripted and lame.

This game deserves a 6 out of ten and is nowhere as enjoyable as the N64 version. The original for N64 still holds the throne of one of best FPS campaigns ever. Anyone who has never played PD on N64 needs to get a copy now.

What? 9.0? This game is complete rubbish! It's rushed, buggy, boring, omfg do I need to say more?

Well of course everyone that's posting here saying this game sucks NOW is because the game came out like 7 years ago. This game is outstanding. Yes, there are better games and that was going to happen inevitably as time goes on... This game is beautiful, visually, and conceptually. The weapons look amazing, the vehicles are great, and the graphics still look good compared to newer games. Good Job RARE. It deserved a 9.0 if anything.

@TesusJits No, it does not suck because it came out 7 years ago. it sucks because it's bad. The original Perfect Dark came out years before this and it is still more playable than this.

@TesusJits @Dredcrumb9 people(not you) are not saying it sucks because it came out 7 years ago(8 now actually) they say it sucks because compared to the original, it really sucks. PD Zero is horrendous.

@Dredcrumb9 Wow I forgot all about my comment on here... Anyway, that's not fair because the first Perfect Dark was flat-out fantastic. I didn't say it sucked because it came out 7 years ago, I was saying people are saying it does for that reason. Idc I love this game regardless.

this game was probably sweet when it first came out but we've all seen better now.

@mcclainjay this game was crap when it first came out. Age has nothing to do with it, the original Perfect Dark is still good to this day and that came out in 2000. perfect Dark(the n64 version)beats the crap out of all modern FPS games in it's addictive campaign and replay value alone

this was one of the first games I bought for the 360. I returned it the next day. it was TERRIBLE. did he ever mention in the review you cant jump. Even by regular Xbox standereds you have to be able to JUMP in a FPS game. BUT I have since played through the original game on XBLA and enjoyed it with my friend. (today) I just bought this game brand new (after 5 years) for 5 bucks and think I will enjoy playing co-op with the same friend. it does have co-op right????

Greg was the best reviewer Gamespot ever had,but he way overgraded this weak game. the graphics were terrible even for a 360 launch title, and the levels and mission structure just flat out sucked. Multiplayer was way too slow also. A total letdown and the game that made me comopletely lose faith in RARE. They're has beens now. Sad.

Hmm... Greg Kasavin has changed all over the place. From glasses, to no glasses, to even less hair! Well, he still makes the best reviews!

My only problem with this game is it feels so antiquated. It feels like it makes so little strides from the original game.

These types of games seemed designed for multiplayer and probably few people on XBL playing this one these days. I'm not sure if I even want to spend the $5 amazon is asking on this game.

I think folks suffer from "nostalgia goggles" when it comes to games like Perfect Dark. Yeah, it was ground-breaking in it's day and really left an impression when I played it, but time marches on. To say this one pails in comparison because the FPS field caught up to and passed it is unfair. It's a slick & refined update for the series and plays every bit as smoothly as the first. It has an excellent tactile feel, lots of nifty weapons, looks great and reminds me of Time Splitters. What more do you want from an arcade, run n' gun shooter?

The reason most people dislike this game is due to a couple of reasons. At the time of release it was a great shooter, but it wasn't long before it was destroyed by the sheer amount of good shooters that came to the 360 soon after. Another reason is that it isn't as great as the original, which is by no means saying that this is a bad game, rather that the first was absolutely outstanding.

First time I played this, I was HORRIBLY disappointed. As each year goes on, It just sinks lower and lower. "Time to leave Dr. Doak."

not even close to how much brilliant perfect dark gameplay was on n64 tho...

The first Perfect Dark was legendary. Although, I think both games were incredibly fantastic. I love the legacy Perfect left behind for other shooters to follow.

The graphics were decent for the time it came out, but the actual gameplay and overall feel just doesn't compare to the N64 title. This one comes across as cheesy and over the top in my opinion.

Good review. excellent game. For all that it could have been..the game still turns out to be quite an enjoyable title. Now of course, I love the 64 Dark as well.

I love how they remade the original theme music from the n64 version... Anyway I played the Demo and I have to say this game is pretty outdated by todays standards, I didnt like this game but I remember having a blast with the original, I agree the score is pretty high, maybe a 7.5 would be better fit
