Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode One User Review
- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 to 20 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Hard to describe"
Penny Arcade is a very odd gem indeed. While it is not as unique as other Live Arcade games when it comes to gameplay, it makes it up in it hilarious dialogue and visual jokes.
Graphics: 8.5/10
It looks just like the webcomic.
Sound: 8/10
There's really no actual voices apart from the narrator, which makes it very difficult to really rate the sound. But what you do hear isn't going to make you go deaf with displeasure.
Content: 8.5/10
The content is a fun package indeed (I know I said that before...) with the fun battles, although it may take some time to get used to the blocking system if you hope to survive past the first level. Item collecting is rather simplified, which does make it easier to pick up, but RPG veterans might be disappointed. Weapon upgrading is also part of the good/bad downgrading.
Overall: 8/10
As far as RPG's go, this one is good for beginners to pick up and learn easily, but the odd humor will appeal to only a few.

Sure it's not worth $20, but it's a fun & humorous little RPG that is one of the most polished games on XBLA.
