I was expecting Final Fantasy, but got something much worse.

I'd first like to say that I know nothing about the whole Penny Arcade series. The reason I got this game was because I had just finished Final Fantasy X and wanted something with the same kind of combat style that the older Final Fantasy games were known for. While this game had that, it was nowhere near the same experience. This game is pointless, redundant, and a waste of money more than anything else.

GAMEPLAY - I was expecting something similar to the older Final Fantasy games with running around an open world map with some random turn-based battles. I wasn't disappointed there, but what really bugged me was that this game was made to be so ridiculous and at such a steep learning curve that it's hard to really get into and appreciate. If you have the patience to learn everything, you might grow to enjoy this game. But for me it felt like there was too much going on at once with too little explanation. - 3/10

STORY - You play as yourself, more or less, and you're just minding your own business when a huge robot comes along and steps on your house, thus destroying it. You meet up with two other guys who want to solve this case, and the adventure goes from there. It's promising enough, but the game is so all-over-the-place that you'll probably get impatient when it comes to getting the job done. - 4/10

GRAPHICS - The graphics on this game aren't too bad. Nothing astounding, but not bad. They went for a comic book look here, and for the most part they didn't do too badly. - 6/10

SOUND - There is little voice-acting at all here, and the sound effects are just cheesy and disappointing. The music is the only thing here worth mentioning, which is both catchy and mood setting. Unfortunately the rest of this game is so comical and out-of-control that sometimes you don't know what the mood is supposed to be. - 4/10

LENGTH/REPLAY VALUE - I haven't even finished this game yet, and I've had it for four or five months. It just doesn't interest me. I've tried starting over 2 or 3 times, but still nothing. I don't see how I will ever get into this game, let alone want to play it through again. - 1/10

BOTTOM LINE - This game is a total waste of time. Nothing about it makes sense, the RPG elements are limited at best, and while this game makes joke after joke, the real joke is that you're actually playing this game. Unless you're into the whole Penny Arcade thing, definitely pass on this one. While funny at first, you soon begin to realize that this whole game is one big joke, and you're just along for the ride. - 3/10
