Now the only to keep the game fair and balanced is to make 'nid basic units CRAP!

lol the orks got a new contender.

Whether blizzard ripped WH 40k off or not they put it into a video game long before the WH franchise did and they made it work perfectly.

for you that dont know the tyranids are the origanal zerg. They where made first for the warhammer 40k board game then starcraft came out and "made" the zerg.To point out the fact even more blizzerd in the credits even thanks games workshop for not sueing them for basicly ripping off the charators and btw i will be buying both games and love them both to death as they are both great games.only problem with both series is that dawn of war dosent get updated enogh and starcraft 2 will aculy be three games each one for a diffrent race witch btw each wont be counted as a expansion pack due to the massive amount of content of each.

Does Blizzard have a creative idea amongst them?

    Terran = Redneck Space Marines
Zerg = Tyranids (Even down to the Overmind)
Protos = Look like Tau, act like Eldar

SC is just a glorified match of Rock, Paper, Scissors. PHAIL

I hope u still got some other Hive Fleet themes, or the painting from DoW - DoWSS. Would be nice with Leviathan, Kraken or Behemoth. To all you SC2 fans, read the text when u finish the campaign in SC1...it says "thanks Games-Workshop for not souing us"
    Go NIDS Go!!

if you ask me the trailer about Tyranids looks a lot with the SC2 trailer of the zergs..
Anyway, DoW2 will probably be a great game until SC2 comes out, at least for me..

@Warprime and some others saying DoW 2 is better than SC2, comparing games you haven't played how is that even possible !?!?
StarCraft sold so many copies all over the world, and even considered a national sport, for a few reasons among others.
    -3 VERY well balanced races
-so many ways to play with each race
-often release of patches, it took about a year to release a patch for SoulStorm... (OMG) I mean come on!
-DoW has so many races all uneven with each other. Making only a few races playable in the internet.
BTW to those saying that zergs are a ripe off, when a game has so many races I think it is logical some to look alike, just because it has for example marines, etc every other game that has marine in it, has copied them?
Also I don't remember seeing Tyranids in the latest titles before DoW2, especially being playable, I say they saw the success of the zergs from SC2 had and decided to get the back..

In all my life I have never seen a schism among gamers since the "Is Warcraft 2 or C&C better?" debacle. Back then, the butts on both sides argued on matters and made statements like "Mammoth Tank rushes own Ogre Mage rushes" and other ridiculous comments. Zergs, Tyrannids, Aliens, Klendathu and the bugs in Armor (novel) are all inter-inspired, especially the later remakes of Zergs and Tyrannids. There's hardly any credence to statements that allude to one of them being "the first".

If you people want to know, I think the first ever fictional sh*t that inspired all those "swarm till they drop" bugs, slimes and killer creepers out there is "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes".

I just skimmed through the earlier and saw some that really irked me, so even though they are already a week old, here's my two cents worth:

To ignorant ass*oles like SamiRDuran, please do some definitive research on your subject of criticism before lambasting them. Then you will see who actually inspired who and make a better judgement than mentioning W40K is a flipping card game. Saying "I already know..." and such sh*t doesn't change the fact that one hinted at W40K being a card game.

I.e. Read the f**king rulebooks and codexes for Warhammer 40K, then read the novels for Starcraft, surf starcraft.wikia.org and starcraft2.com. Please.

On the other hand, SamiRDuran is somewhat right about the Zergs being on the PC platform first. The 'Nids showed up in full as one of the "sides" (a characteristic of RTS games a decade back) in Warhammer: Rites of War (1999), while the Zergs showed up in 1998.

No, you W40K fanboy dorks, the Space Hulk games (the first one, in 1993) don't count. They were horrible. For the second Space Hulk, the developers seem to mix up Chaos with the 'Nids, what with Magos running around leading the 'Nids and weird-heck Khorne-worshipping Chaos Marines giving, of all things, FIRE SUPPORT to the Genestealers when they should be rushing the Blood Angels like good ol' Khornates.

P.S. Why is SamiRDuran's messages tagged with "Does not meet display criteria"? Is some moderator being a biased as*head?

Yay, Carnifexi. Seriously, having Carnifexi for the Tyrannids is a no-brainer. With Dreadnaughts and Kans running around, having no heavies means the Tyrannids are going to be pounded into the dirt. I am hoping that the Tyrannids would get to play afool with the genetic variations on their units, though considering that genetic upgrades stay on for the shelf-life of a 'Nid with no chance for an instant mutation to adapt to the rigors of a battle, the 'Nids may have to go for an Earth 2150-like "Design Your Units" system. Which would be awesome.

(I am hoping the developers get their W40K right this time. Kans are piloted by Gretchin, not Orks. Better yet, they should just throw in Deff Dreads. I am sick of Killa Kans.)

Looking...interesting. The vid didn't really show off much. Should have focused a unit or two but still, i'm glad they're actually in DoW 2!

Haha, if you think this is Zerg from star craft you are dead wrong for one huge reason. Warhammer 40k was introduced in 1987 when was star craft released? 1998 you say? Well I may not be the best in the world at math but I think, I could be wrong, that warhammer was first. (Tyranids were around since day 1) Get your facts right before you complain.

"Bouffok Posted Jan 12, 2009 9:02 am PT this for all the damn blizzard fans, a long time ago blizzard made g/w an offer to publish their games and g/w refused ( thank god ) so blizzard decided to copy their world and just name it differently : warcraft = warhammer, starcraft = warhammer 40k, you cans ee it downright to the units and how they act its almost like copyright enfringment. Bottom line is blizzard should keep it to diablo wich is the only good game they ever released, apart from starcraft one wich was a good game but the second one looks like it shoulda came out before dawn of war 1 even did the graphics look 10 yrs old !"

You hear that all you ignorant fools calling Warhammer a Warcraft rip-off, clone, whatever have you?

BLIZZARD are a bunch of unimaginative buttmunches. Although smart ones....

    And BEHOLD!

    The ORIGINAL Zerg!

If Dawn of war 2 and Starcraft 2 get good reviews, I will buy both. No conflict for me. Be happy that we (PC gamers) can still get good stuff the way the PC gaming marketplace is going we are lucky so far we are not playing Bejeweled: Warhammer wars or Starcraft2: The Puzzlequest missions.

Well Blizzard have a good fan base not without a reason. Nearly all Blizz games are genius. You remeber Diablo II or Starcraft which is so called "Korean national Sport"? In your comment I see something like "DoW II Owns Starcraft 2" but these games even haven't demos yet so how could you say which one is better? In my opinion DoW II could be I prefered Starcraft than a Dawn of War so... I'm going after Starcraft.

    Posted Jan 13, 2009 11:34 pm PT

This game is looking even better than the first one! Sadly Starcraft will sell more copies, simply because of the unstoppable fan base that Blizzard has built. 15 Million fans that will buy anything, even a brick, if it has the Bliz logo on it. 40K = Better Game! But SC = 10 Million copies sold!

  • bloobloob

Warhammer is all about tactics. Tyranids are all about swarm tactics and have very few ranged units. A LOT less ranged units than the zerg. Swarm tactics are good, but definitely not unstoppable. So none of this talk about "unbalanced" gameplay.

SC2 will rape this game for the better e-sports support, and the most important thing on a RTS: different but BALANCED races.
Something Warhammer lacks and is ages behind Starcraft 1.
