Yeah, I have the same problem, and I have a widescreen HD monitor. Hmmmmmm. Just about to try the game.prefs fix, but can't seem to find the file...

I found an easy solution, navigate to C:\Users\"YOUR USER NAME"\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\SupremeCommander
and delete/rename the game.prefs file, then launch the game and make a new profile.

I fixed it!

After installing both the newest nvidia driver and the newest redistributable Directx version, it still didn't work.

I used the Supreme Commander "Safemode" that it comes with and it worked fine, so I opened the shortcut and found that it appended to the shortcut "/windowed 1024 768". So I did the same settings with a copy of the shortcut I normally use and put in "/windowed 1920 1080" and it loaded up without errors.

I've discovered with a little testing that you can just put in "/fullscreen 1920 1080" or whatever your resolution in it'll work just like it normally does -- only drawback is that you can't change windowed/fullscreen or the resolution while in the game; it just shows "command line" or something. To sum up, your shortcut should say the entry below in the 'Target' section of the shortcut:

"C:\Program Files\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander\bin\SupremeCommander.exe" /fullscreen 1920 1080

I have the same problem that you have maj. It doesn't really make any sense. I'm going to uninstall the patch and just download the 1.1.3251. Hopefully they'll come up with a fix soon so I can start playing online.
