US PC Game Charts: September 3-9

Top three spots remain unchanged from last week; remainder of list sees big turnover as older games return to chart.

It has been months since a game not named World of Warcraft has topped the PC sales charts for consecutive weeks. And as longtime PC charts trackers might have guessed, the other game capable of being king of the hill for any stretch of time was part of Electronic Arts' consistently selling Sims series.

Just like it did the week before, The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff sold the most retail copies of any PC game in the US for the week of September 3-9. The second and third games on the list also stayed put for the week, with World of Warcraft and The Sims 2 following Glamour Life Stuff in that order.

However, after the top three spots, things stopped looking familiar. Cars: Radiator Springs Adventure, Starcraft Battle Chest, Madden NFL 07, Nancy Drew: Danger by Design, and The Sims 2: Family Fun Stuff all dropped out of the top 10. Outside of the top three games, only Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Gold and The Sims 2: Open for Business managed to stay in the top 10.

Returning to the top of the charts after sabbaticals were Star Wars: Empire at War, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, and a trio of titles from Take-Two Interactive: Civilization IV, its Warlord expansion pack, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff may have a difficult time retaining the top spot for a third straight week, as it will have to outsell a handful of anticipated new releases, including THQ's Company of Heroes and Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy.

I just find it highly respectable that Civilization IV has two spots on the list. Thumbs up to Sid Meier for knowing how to build and improve upon his series rather than just pumping out a new series with better graphics.

Here's waiting for Will Wright to do the same.

Ok i know(some) people like the Sims (not me) but why are three of them on the list??? GLAMOUR LIFE SIMS AS NUMBER 1?!OVER OBLIVION!?!?!?!?
ok heres a poll for future reviewers...how many of you have played GLS and liked it better the Oblivion, and how many of you liked oblivion better.(And reviewers that hate oblivion because their computer won't run it or there was a glitch on it don't really count) you can also compare Sims to any other game up there. i don't really care

The Sims is like choking the life out of the PC gaming market. Will all the people with low end computers with no CPU/GPU/Motherboard chipset worth a damn hurry up and up grade! When they do, we will finally see the market expand with more creativity.

People complain that the sims is still on there. Its on there cause its a good game. Alot of people have it and are involved with it.

It should actually be more recognized by people as a very huge and popular game.

For god's sake! Some people have really come out with some real crap here. The votes aren't rigged at all. These games are POPULAR. Yeah, that's P-O-P-U-L-A-R. I'm a big fan of The Sims 2. So are many, many, many, many, many other people. Sit down with it and you'll see why. This game is phenomenaly popular. When gamers have the chance to expand it with cool new stuff, they will do just that.

Now I couldn't give two ****'s to WOW but I know it is popular and acknowlege that. So should you. Of course you don't have to like it! But just because you don't does not mean it is bad and that everyone feels the same way and that this is all rigged. These games are POPULAR. Acknowledge it or be a menace to sociality.

@ VegetaMaelstrom: LOL, you said The Usual Suspects. That's the name of the WoW guild I'm in!

Anyways, Warcraft 3 and Diablo 2 should be on that list also! Those games are such ownage.
