Rise of Nations sequel golden

Latest real-time strategy game from Microsoft Game Studios and Big Huge Games ready for retail; Rise of Legends set for May 9 release.

The sequel to GameSpot's Best PC Game of 2003 is almost here, as Microsoft Game Studios has announced that Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends has gone gold and should be available in stores on May 9.

Rise of Legends abandons its predecessor's historical setting in favor of a sci-fi/fantasy world where forces of technology and magic struggle for dominance. In the single-player campaign, gamers will have to manage turn-based and real-time strategy elements if they want to conquer the world. In multiplayer, competing civilizations scramble to build their forces and wipe each other off the map in battles designed for quicker play than those of the original Rise of Nations.

For more on Rise of Legends, check out GameSpot's previous coverage, or just download the single-player demo.

Gibb is right that demo was pretty sweet and i cant wait fo rthis game to come out. Great graphics and in the demo it had great strategies and tactics and all the other important details. It better be better than the first one. That will be tough.

I thought the first demo was great! I didnt notice the bugs that you all are talking about. It ran great on my computer (9800pro). I didnt play the first game either -chrisdojo- but this game has revitalized my RTS roots and I will get this game when it comes out . The only other game I felt like this was with C&C Red Alert. Even my 5 yr old son loves to watch me play this game. I highly recommend at least the demo...

Dang, didn't even see this one coming. I thought it would have been another summer and partial fall before it was ready to come out. Saving up for this joint. And the next demo is coming out? Didn't even know the first was out. A good reason to go back to my computer roots. Impressions from anyone on the first demo minus the bugs??

They promised a second, less buggy demo with some unique content. I won't buy the game until I can see evidence they've improved the playability (though content and gameplay-wise it's awesome)
