Platoon goes gold
Strategy First's strategy game inspired by Oliver Stone's Vietnam movie will ship in two weeks.
Canadian publisher Strategy First has announced that Platoon is complete and will ship on November 19. The publisher secured the MGM movie license for the game, which follows the career of newlywed Martin Lionsdale of the 1st Airborne Cavalry Division from late 1965 to 1968.
"Platoon was such a great war movie and we are really excited about bringing it to the PC," said Steve Milburn, director of marketing for Strategy First.
Platoon is based on historical military operations such as Operation Shiny Bayonet, the Pleiku campaign, and Operation Pershing. The gameplay focuses on platoon tactics, and soldiers' abilities are affected by their experience over the course of the missions. For more details, check out our previous coverage of the game.
