Codemasters has today announced that it has further strengthened its relationship with Russian publisher 1C Company by securing the global publishing rights to Perimeter. The futuristic real-time strategy game, which is currently in development at K-D Lab, is currently scheduled for release in spring of 2004.

"We're extremely pleased to further our ties with 1C Company," said Gary Rowe, head of acquisitions at Codemasters. "Perimeter brings fresh and innovative tactics to RTS gaming--something the genre currently is lacking and players are crying out for. This, coupled with an original science-fiction theme, makes Perimeter a key PC title for Codemasters in 2004."

Perimeter's backstory revolves around a number of different factions who have abandoned Earth in search of a new home world. Perimeter promises to bring a number of intriguing new features to the real-time strategy genre, including morphing units, impenetrable force field base defenses, and the ability to alter the game's terrain through terraforming and energy-extraction techniques.
